"Blanche was moulded like a Diana" (183).
Diana, in Roman mythology, was known as the Goddess of the hunt and moon. In this particular scene Jane is describing her opinion of Blanches physique to the readers. By comparing Blanche to Diana, Jane is expressing that she is extremely beautiful, tall, and statuesque. This scene is the first time Jane meets Blanche and really begins to grow jealous of her looks and the source of power that comes with them. Like Diana, Blanche receives power like a Goddess because of her beautiful looks.
The explanation makes the allusion very clear. Without the explanation I wouldn't have understood what Jane was trying to say here. Did you know this allusion without looking it up?
