Allusions- Mythology

"During the intervening period I had no time to nurse chimeras" (249).

Chimeras, in greek mythology, were known as a monstrous creature made up of different parts of various animals. Many descriptions describe the monster complicated. It can be inferred that the phrase "nursing chimeras" means addressing and caring for problems or people that have multiple parts. Jane is discussing the preparations she must make before Rochester and the guests arrive. Her "chimeras" could be refereed to as her complex emotions and problems she must suppress.

  1. Good connection to greek mythology. I'm not too familiar with the story of the chimera, so it helped that you gave some background info. I think that you could give a bit more about how it connects. The main idea is there, but some extra info would improve it a bit.
